Now Christopher's down...

And if you could pray for him (and Grace) I sure would appreciate it. He is not normally a complainer when it comes to illness (you should have seen him sail through chicken pox! Unbelievable!), so when he's holding his ear, crying his little heart out, and saying,

"mommy, why did Adam and Eve have to sin so that we have diseases?"

and

"I feel like God hates me 'cause He's allowing me to hurt so bad"

it KILLS me!

I really, really, really don't want to have to take him (and therefore, all the others with me) to the doctor's office, because the flu is running RAMPANT right now in these parts, and I don't want to come home with a cure for an ear infection, only to have to go right back for 9 rounds of tamiflu.

As an interesting note, however:
As Christopher laying moaning on the couch, I told the other kids (those who didn't feel like they were that sick) to clean up quickly, and to offer up their little sacrifice of cleaning CHEERFULLY for Christopher and his ear... and lo and behold, the moaning stopped and he was able to FALL ASLEEP. Thank You, Jesus, for that little bit of relief for my brave little guy!

Have you tried warmed olive oil in his ear to soothe the pain? Children can actually fight off ear infections on their own but they need help dealing with the pain. My mother always used warmed olive oil (test it on your wrist to make sure it's not too hot) when my ears hurt.

Prayers for you all!

Poor Christopher....what a trooper he sounds like. Here's to praying for no trips to the crazy Dr. office and to the health of all the dc in your blessed household.

Matilda, when do you know it's time to go to the doctor? I would really rather not take him in, but I'm afraid I'd let things get too far...

I gave him some ibuprofen and some numbing drops, and he's feeling a lot better now, but still...

We use garlic oil drops in the ear. Her's how I make it:

Also, putting peroxide in the ear first can help kill bacteria in the ear canal and dry things out a bit.

My other "cure" for ear infections is using breastmilk drops. But I don't tell the kids what it is -they'd freak out. I do this when I have a supply.

Oh boy, Ouiz. I know how much you *love* taking the kids out to the doctors! :)

How is Christopher doing now?

And, I'm sure you thought of this already, could DH come home for an hour so you could take *just* Christopher?

Oh, poor Christopher! Sending up a prayer! Milihimama's cure works for us, too... I start to worry and get it checked if there's a substantial fever with the ear infection, though.
