Many thanks to my friend Perrin, for the goop recipe!
2 c white glue
1/2 c warm water
few drops of food coloring
Mix these well in a large bowl. In a smaller bowl, mix together:
3 tsp borax
1 1/2 c warm water
Pour the borax mixture s-l-o-w-l-y into the glue mixture, mixing the entire time. It only takes a few seconds before you feel the texture change.
We had to knead out some of the water (I didn't pour the borax in slowly enough), but it quickly became a mighty fun toy!
It was used to trap rubber spiders:
To make fossils:
To make burritos:
The sword in the stone:
And to hang toys:
Of course, I will admit that I showed them how to put it in a bowl, press down, and make... well,... rude noises (oh, the shame!). That cemented this toy forever as one of the coolest things Mommy has ever made (Yeah, I sunk to a new low... but the hysterical laughter in the kitchen made it all worth while!)

That looks totally GROSS!!!
My kids will love it!
Can I ask what might be a stupid question? What is Borax? Where can you find it? It sounds like some sort of toxic chemical but I know that's wrong. Thanks!
3 hours later and my kids are *still* playing with it!
"Mule Team Borax" is a laundry additive -- you can find it right next to the detergent.
Have fun! Your kids will have a blast!!!
Rude noises? You? Perish the thought! :)
(I'm sure that you had to have LEARNED that from someone else while growing up....you *DO* have brothers, don't you?)
Love the hanging toy!
Hilarious! And too much fun! My girls will love this.
