Little bit of this and that

I've been in a bit of a funk the past few days. Nothing earth-shattering, of course, but just a bit on the disappointed side.

First, our pastor chose to finish up the Mass with a few comments on the latest Vatican "pronouncements." I had been hoping for some encouraging words, but instead he chose to look at both as "going backwards" and "throwing ice water on ecumenism."

Sigh.

I love the people at our parish and I will honor our pastor (of course) and stay where we are, but it gets discouraging to listen to what is said sometimes.

Second, I haven't had much chance to talk to friends lately, and for a social person like me, that is a must! Praise God that our Bible study is tomorrow! I so desperately need to be recharged at this moment.

Third, it appears that several of my children are on their way to yet another round of gastro-intestinal fun. I know I'm beating a dead horse, but seriously -- with only one bathroom, this is NOT fun. [Tonight was a virtual "bathroom ballet" as I tried to bathe 6 kids in turn, while dealing with several who simply could not wait to... well, you know. Imagine me hiding behind the shower curtain while I'm washing whatever 2 are in the tub, trying to give all children proper privacy. If it weren't so frustrating it would be awfully funny...]

Like I said, nothing earth-shattering, but enough to get me in a funk. I half-way expected this to happen, since I had offered up the frustrations of the coming day this morning for a specific intention. I'd like to think that somehow, God is using all of this, but right now all I am thinking is, "This really stinks."

Ah, noble, spiritual warrior that I am!

I am so sorry! That can not be fun!
And our priest hasn't even mentioned anything about the Vatican pronouncments. At least you know where you priest stands!

You guys need to move back up here. We have the best priests ever! :)

We'll pray that your gastrointestinal issues pass quickly - no pun intended :) :) :)

You might find Jimmy Aiken's commentary/dissection of the Holy Father's motu proprio interesting and informative. Too bad on your pastor's comments. I find the document a step in the right direction to help reconcile some to the Church and to restore some lost reverence. Either way, the Latin mass was never abrogated nor is this directive replacing anything. It's simply making the mass according to the missal of Blessed John XXIII more accessible. But I'm sure you are well aware of all that...dh of SC.
