Me and My Big Mouth

Seriously, how many times in one day (one morning, actually) can I snap at my kids? Unfortunately for me, the number seems to be rather high.

Here's the real kicker... they're not really DOING anything bad, either. It's just the typical constant chatter, the silly questions, the inane comments, and the small squabbles that happen when small children get together --

T: "Mommy, Christopher said I can't be Flick!"

C: "But Mommy, Thomas can't be Flick 'cause I'm being Mater and Mater can't be friends with a bug and besides he's wearing red and Flick's not red!"

So what happens on days like this? Does Mommy rise to the occasion and act that the mature Christian adult?

no.

No, I'm sorry to say that I have been snapping, whining, and generally being a much bigger baby than any of them are!

sigh.

On days like this, my pride takes a hefty and well-deserved pounding. I am NOT this shining example of all that is noble and good. I am a sinner who needs Jesus' grace and mercy just like I did yesterday, and the day before that, and the day before that, and.... you get the picture.

"Without Me you can do nothing."

And "nothing" is exactly what I get when I try to do this on my own. I turn into yucky Mommy.

Time for some serious Mommy apologies, a few moments of prayer with the Lord... and maybe a nap.

Hey - are you *sure* you weren't in MY house today? I think we must have been sharing a brain (or not, as the case may be).

Thank you for your honesty about (home-schooling) mom-hood NOT always being smiles and roses.

(and BTW, a nap *did* help me out ;) ) how about you?

Sorry your house was just as "joyous" as mine was today, my friend!

I wish I could say that a nap helped me, but unfortunately it was so short I don't think it accomplished much...

sigh.

Right there with you, I am afraid...

Hope your day today is better!
