I've wondered when to share this...

... but I'll just spill it.

I'm pregnant.

Yep. We are now expecting baby #7.

It's been a fairly typical pregnancy so far... lots of nausea (thank God for Zofran!!), lots of naps, and very little energy/inclination to do much of anything.

My kids have been SUCH little troupers (I love you all so much!!!) They have let me sleep (for the most part), and have really gone out of their way to help each other, whether it is Sean, who regularly makes his brothers' beds for them... or Christopher, who loves to make his little brother breakfast in the morning... or Thomas, who is doing his best to cheer me up by grabbing my face and saying, "I wuv you, Mommy. You'we beautiful!"... or Reilly and Kathryn, who have really stepped up to the plate and taken care of Marie so wonderfully well.

I'll admit, though, that this pregnancy comes with some anxiety. No, not with the numbers -- heck, once we got past our third child, we realized that additional ones weren't really all that difficult.

No, the problem is with the house and the car.

We now [drumroll] must purchase a 15 passenger van. I am totally freaked out by this, so if any of you drive one, leave me some encouraging words in the comments, OK? I'm terrified to drive a monstrosity such as this, even though Suburban Cowgirl assures me it's not all "that bad."

Two, we now have no choice. We must add on to the house. As you may recall, my husband built some pretty darn cool looking bunk beds (with trundle) so that we could get 3 children to a room.

Four children simply WILL NOT FIT. Period.

My head is simply reeling with the staggering financial implications of this child. (although we have so many who have promised us a portion of their lottery winnings, so we should be set!)

Seriously, if you could remember to pray for us, I would really appreciate it. I thank God for allowing us another blessing...but I'm really trying hard not to freak out over all that needs to be done now.

I know this little gift from God is being born into the BEST home life (other than mine, hee hee)!

Be assured of my continued prayers and I say again, Shamu (the 15 passenger van) kind of takes on a life of its own!

Honestly, you will learn to love TOWERING over all those teeny tiny little cars with their one car seat securely in the middle of the back seat. (Most of those people just don't know what they are missing!)
(If that last statement comes across sounding uncharitable, it was not meant to be!)

AND you can schlepp bikes around too!

Many blessings!

Fear Not.

Friend of mine had baby #7 almost 2 years ago at age 38 (turning 39 right after). Has the Suburban (gold) and drives well. Doesn't feel like a school bus and doesn't look freakish. :)

One of my favorite families in the universe. You'll do fine and things will work out!

Congratulations! This is wonderful news. Don't let the anxiety overshadow what is truly a great blessing! Easier said than done, I know. Praying for you to do just that!

And remember - God will never give you anything you can't handle. So you get several blessings - a baby, a bigger car, and a bigger house! Sounds like a good deal all around!

Congratulations!
We're expecting baby #7 in a couple of weeks. We have a Dodge Grand Caravan, but we already have two kids doubling up. My husband is planning to weld an extra seat belt in the back and swap our two- seat bench for a three seat bench to put off the inevitable Big Van.
We used to live in a two bedroom apartment (with 4, then 5 kids.) We took the doors off the closet, added a curtain, and made a mini-room with crib mattresses for the toddlers.

I'm in SC too - drop me a line if you want to talk more!

What wonderful news!!! I remember being scared to death to drive our 15 passenger van. I went to a parking lot right after we bought it to practice parking it, over and over again. In the end, I decided to park at the back of a parking lot every time..since then I have parallel parked in D.C., in traffic, right on the Mall so yes, you do get used to it!! Goodluck with the house renovations. I remember feeling like we'd never be able to afford anything bigger, and viola God provided and it all worked out.
Congratulations and God Bless!!!
