I still don't want to talk about it... but I'll talk about groceries!

It was a horrible week. I was lay-on-the-couch-can't-really-homeschool depressed for most of it, and I thought it best to lay low and not to share my thoughts with the rest of the world. Eucharistic Adoration and First Friday Mass helped tremendously... not that I "felt" anything at the time, but afterwards I can honestly say my outlook wasn't quite as dark and dismal.

Praise God for that!

On a lighter note, let's give Bloom a HUGE "thank you!" for giving us yet another triple coupon weekend! Thanks to their amazing generosity, I was able to buy $187.78 worth of groceries for $80.57.... that's a 57% savings! The best part of it, however, is that my pantry is full... my kitchen island cabinets are full... my refrigerator is well-stocked, and my freezer is full.... AND I have plenty to share.

We were also given 2 huge boxes (and several bags) full of clothing for the kids. Many, many thanks to the wonderful couple at church who wanted to bless us with all of it! To tell you the truth, I would be hard pressed to find anything that my children wear on a regular basis that WE actually bought for them. God is so gracious, and through the generosity of others, we are blessed with clothes just when we need them!

So if He can provide food and clothing for us, can't I trust Him to take care of the bigger stuff as well? I mean, if He can be concerned enough about the minutiae in my life, does it make sense that something huge -- like the election -- would somehow escape unnoticed by Him?

An inspiring thought. Thanks!

I'm glad to know I'm not the only one who was so upset last week.

No, you were NOT alone!

I am still overwhelmed by it all, and trying hard not to fall into despair, actually. Looking at this morning's paper and seeing how he is planning on jumping right in there and removing the barriers to ESCR didn't help matters any.

I have no idea just how bad it's going to get, but with my imagination, I've painted some pretty horrid pictures in my head. I was inspired by the recent Faith and Family posting on using this time to deepen our prayer life. No matter what happens, that approach can ONLY be helpful!
