Didja ever wonder?

You know, I can have some pretty bizarre thoughts run through my head when I drive at night (I can have some weird thoughts during the day, too... but that's beside the point).

As I was in the car this evening, I was listening to one of our local radio stations, which has evidently gotten a jump start on the Christmas music. As the familiar songs of the Christmas season filled the car (and thrilled the kids) I started wondering:

Can you imagine transporting the Apostles to modern times and trying to explain to them all of the Christmas songs and traditions?

I told you it was bizarre... but I started laughing when I pictured some their puzzled looks and their questions of, "OK, tell me again how a deer with a glowing nose fits in with all this? You lost me on that one..."

Thankfully, amid all the fluff, they played my absolute favorite Christmas hymn of all time:

"Oh Holy Night."

That song gets me every time. I get goosebumps and/or start to cry whenever they get to the line "long lay the world/in sin and error pining/'til He appeared and the soul felt its worth"... and by the time we reach "fall on your knees..." my spirit is jumping around for joy.

So, in honor of that song -- one that we WOULDN'T have to explain to the Apostles *grin* -- I leave you with this...

(I can't say I'm much of a Celine Dion fan, but I think she did a wonderful job with this one...)

Well, Ken brought home an "Elmo Saves Christmas" DVD! I told him it was sacriligious - try explaining THAT one to the apostles! :)

Beth... wow! I had no idea Elmo saved Christmas! I also didn't know that Santa had the power to "cancel Christmas," according to the Rudolph story... AND SPEAKING OF WHICH, could they have possibly made a more crotchety Santa? I don't think so!

Cheri... I'm sorry that my first response to you is over this silly posting! *grin* Thank you so much for checking out by blog! I will be going back to your blog as well. You have such sweet looking little boys!!!
