After Christopher and I finished up our catechism lesson for the day, I joked around with him and said, "Homeschooling is ended. You may go in peace to love and serve the Lord." [for non-Catholics: this is how each Mass is ended] And then I added:
"Thanks be to God." [the standard response]
Christopher just looked at me and said, "what?"
"Thanks be to God."
With that, he smiled and said, "OH! Is THAT what it is? I was wondering why we were calling Him 'speedy'!"
[think about that one a moment, people...
Thanks BE to God, vs. Thanks, speedy God!]
My poor child has been thanking "speedy God" every Sunday for FIVE YEARS!
Oh my goodness, I was CRYING laughing. I couldn't help it. I told him I was sorry and that I wasn't making fun of him, but that was just too funny. He started laughing and said, "That's OK, Mommy. You can laugh. It IS pretty funny..."

I can barely type through the tears of laughter!!!!! Seriously, I had to delete a semicolon from the word "barely". OH MY GOODNESS!!!! This was so hysterical, I shared it with my husband. Thanks for the laugh! What a cute kid and such a good sport too!
I felt so bad laughing in front of him, but there was NO WAY to hold back on that one. I held back admirably on his "cheese prayer" (see a few days ago), but this one could not be helped.
I will NEVER be able to say that response without a smile on my face from now on...
Well, God can be speedy, even if the Mass sometimes isn't!
Your son is TOO funny! Thanks for the laugh as I start my day! I'll be sharing this with the Cowboy! :)
LOL! I love it! I'm sure I'll be thinking about this at the end of Mass for a long time! :) My dh always thought it was funny that when the priest says Mass is over, we all say "THANK GOD!" LOL (you know, like it was so horrible) ;-)
I just laughed my nursing baby right off, LOL!
That's hysterical!!!! Thanks, Speedy God! Love it. Can't wait for Pete to get home so I can tell him that one.
Really am LOL here! So funny!
Like Amy's dh, I too grew up thinking it was really funny that we ended Mass with a "Thank God!" as if to say "It's about time!" Adding Speedy in there makes that line of thinking even funnier!
That has to be my favorite of all time!
I'm off to share that with my dh!
