Family happenings

I've been rather sparse in my blogging lately. I do apologize. Here, for my faithful few readers (God love ya, as my grandmother used to say), are some of this week's highlights:

Had my ultrasound. The baby looks fine, healthy, right on track... and it's a little girl. Let's just say that half of the horde is thrilled with this, and half are less than thrilled that the tide has tipped in the girls' favor. (we were split right down the middle, even with the pets!... well, except for the fish. We don't count the fish....)

Covered the whole birthday thing. Move on.

Big drumroll......

Thomas is potty-trained! whoo hoo! Let's hear it for my favorite 3 yr old! It took a week longer than I wanted it to, but he is doing GREAT!!! I'm so proud of him!

We finished up Mere Christianity for our Bible/book study, and will now be starting Scott Hahn's Swear to God: The Power and Promise of the Sacraments. It looks like it will be another great study... and have I mentioned lately how much I love my Bible study group? If I haven't, let me say GOD BLESS THEM!!!

Marie told me that she loved me for the very first time. We were snuggling together on the couch, and I was smiling and telling her how much I loved her, and she just grinned her sweet little baby girl grin and said, "I ya you..." and then put her head on my shoulder and gave me a pat. I am SO counting that one, people!

And the final note for tonight: I have finally gotten my act together and ordered books for next "year's" homeschooling (which, oddly enough, should be starting in... oh... a few weeks or so).

There are few things in life more thrilling than seeing the FedEx guy show up at your door with a box full of books you ordered.

Perrin and I will be having a fun "let's look at all our new stuff" fest when all of it comes in. I need to experience this little "high" before reality sets in, and I find myself at the kitchen table trying to juggle teaching FOUR children this time around while dealing with the ever-present Marie, who hates to share Mommy's attention with anyone. My faithful babysitter, Christopher, will now be joining the ranks as an official kindergartener, so Thomas will now get babysitting duty... and then in October, I will be adding "taking care of newborn and recovering from c-section" into the mix.

oooh. I think I just scared myself.

Guess who will be praying for bucketsful of God's grace and heaping amounts of organizational skills?

Well, those are the family highlights for this week!
