Advent crafts (part 1)

What a weekend it's been -- lots of crafts, lots of fun (despite yet ANOTHER cold that seems to have hit everyone except yours truly and Marie). I'll post more pictures later (I hope!) but I am excited to have finished our Jesse Tree this evening!

I made Jesse Tree ornaments out of felt for our Christmas tree many years ago (when our kids were even younger and more prone to take things off the tree and throw them around the house... c'mon now, I know your kids do that too... right?), but we never had an "official" Jesse Tree... until now.

I'm hoping to "wing it" and dedicate the next few weeks of homeschooling to walking through all the symbols (with appropriate readings). I'm using various sources, such as Katherine's A Living Education posting from November 25 (scroll down to Radix Jesse), the worksheets from Domestic Church, and this article (and this one) from Catholic Culture.

I'll have to let you know how all of this turns out...

This is great. Absolutely beautiful. You did a great job with the symbols. (You are so artistic!) I just love it. Have a blessed Advent.

Thank you so much!!! I really had a lot of fun making it (although my "scissor hand" got a bit tired by the end...;-)

As you can see, your posting was very inspirational to me.

May you and your family have a truly blessed Advent!

Ouiz -

As usual, your artistic skill amazes and humbles me! I remember fondly the felt Jesse Tree Ornaments (I LOVED Jonah and the Whale - a photo for your Ouiz readers might be nice :) ).

Did you create this Jesse Tree design, circles and all? I think the simple designs are very profound. (I just enlarged the photo - quite amazing!) And, hey, is that LATIN I see on those "O Antiphons"?

Your tree is beautiful! Is it too late for the Suburban Cow Pokes to get going on a tree of our own?

That's just great. It looks like a good Sunday School project.
